How to celebrate Chinese New Year in London

If you want to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Rooster, you don’t look far to look. London is home to the biggest Chinese New Year celebrations outside Asia, as hundreds of thousands of people descend on the West End to take part.

The Chinese New Year festivities in London are free to attend and take place around Trafalgar Square, Chinatown and across the West End.

The day usually kicks off with a colourful Chinese parade that snakes its way through the streets of the West End, followed by beautiful stage performances in Trafalgar Square, including traditional dance troupes, acrobats, dragon and flying lion dances, opera and martial arts acts.

At end of the day Trafalgar Square lights up with a spectacular show of fireworks.
