Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has revealed its first-ever range of hijabs and abayas – becoming the latest designer to tap the multibillion-dollar Muslim fashion market.
“The new Dolce&Gabbana Abaya collection is a reverie amidst the desert dunes and skies of the Middle East: an enchanting visual story about the grace and beauty of the marvelous women of Arabia,” D&G said on Instagram.
The range – first revealed to Style.com/Arabia – features mainly black and beige tones, but also splashes of floral colour.
Dolce & Gabbana didn’t immediately respond when asked by ShufiLondon.com whether the range will be available in London, and at what price points.
The designer joins others – including H&M, Tommy Hilfiger and DKNY – in launching ranges inspired by the traditional dress worn by some Muslim women.
Consultancy Bain recently reported that sales of luxury goods in the Middle East hit $8.7 billion in 2015 — up from $6.8 billion the year before, Forbes reported.
