For a royal day out, how about a visit to the Queen’s residence at Buckingham Palace? The royal palace throws its doors open to the public during the Summer months and at selected dates throughout the year. Paid tours of the ‘State Rooms’ will take you to the special areas of the palace where monarchs receive their subjects and visiting dignitaries. Paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Vermeer, Poussin, Canaletto and Claude are all on show at the palace. Visitors also have access to a special exhibition, which in previous years have included showings of Her Majesty’s evening dresses and personal jewellery.
