Shakespeare’s Globe theatre

Shakespeare’s Globe is a modelled on the original theatre that stood on a nearby site, built in 1599 by the great playwright’s theatrical company. The modern reconstruction opened in 1997, under an initiative led by the late American actor and director Sam Wanamaker. It holds regular plays and is open for tours.
