This London restaurant offers dining with a twist: You eat in total darkness. The unusual concept involves being led to your seat by a blind guide, who then asks you to choose between four ‘surprise’ menus (£44/£52 for two/three courses). There is absolutely no light permitted in the main dining room, and most guests eat with their hands and chat freely with those around them. It’s billed as an experience that “will change your view of the world by reversing your perspective”. It is said that other senses – taste and smell – are enhanced in the dark environment, and because guests don’t know exactly what they are eating. Some complain however that the restaurant can be excessively noisy. It’s suited for both large groups and adventurous couples – although probably not those on a first date.
